Thankful Part Three

Thankful Part Three

So much to be thankful for....Veterans Day!! To all our men and women defending and protecting us all every day...in ALL uniforms that are sworn to protect us - THANK YOU!!

It's been one of those days where I feel like one big raw emotional nerve...I've been home doing that never ending pile of laundry and watching tv to keep me awake while I fold towels and match up socks. Honestly, how do three people create this amount of clothes that need to be washed, dried, folded and put away...actually make that two people cause Gman's clothes are upstairs all over the floor in his room. Dirty and clean and I honestly have just about given up on them and where they need to go. He has the newest X-box game - Modern War or something like that and he could care less if his clothes are clean - he is just in a game- fog -haze of whatever it is that almost 15 year old men (to be do)...he does come down for food, so I know he is alive and breathing...back to me.

I think that thinking about all the things I am thankful for is making me a big ole cry baby. I've been crying all day at silly commercials. And tonight I forgot about the laundry while I enjoyed a big ole glass of red wine and the CMA's. Shut the hell up if you do not know what the CMA's are. Part of me wants to tell you to just stop and go read something else. Lucky for you the bigger part of me just feels sorry for you and I'm going to try to convince you to listen to country music. For those that already do - pass go, collect 200$ and go get a big glass of wine/beer while I slap some sense into these egits that don't know better....

Here is the thing about country music...it is all a story and if you just listen to the words you will find something that you can relate to...You don't have to have a Southern Voice/Accent...You just have to have a heart and somewhere inside is a part that hears something that reminds you of growing up somewhere....I am so thankful for where and how I grew up. Small southern town where everyone knew all about you and you couldn't get out of there fast enough. I did get out but I still look back and have nothing but thanks and memories of people that still to this day mean so much to me. Country music is like that to me...it just reminds us all at the end of the day what is important. What do we remember? What makes us - us. The CMA's tonight were amazing. The writing was funny and the jokes were dead on. Taylor Swift rocked the house again!! 19 years old and she is on top of her game. Kanye probably did her a favor by making a total ass of himself so that she could show us all how to handle that  with poise and grace. And she walked home tonight with the ENTERTAINER of the YEAR AWARD. Not bad. For an awkward, skinny, little girl that writes and sings songs that some part of all of us can relate to. I think that is her secret. She connects with people. Even if it is that part of you that you don't really want people to know is there. She just puts that all out there and sings about it.

And I guess that is true about all music....it makes you feel something. I am thankful for that feeling you get when you are listening to a song and it makes your heart sing. I so wish I could sing. I can't imagine anything better than being able to sing. That is truly something only God can give and a few can do.  I sound amazing in my head. Not so much out loud. But just like I laugh out loud at movies I sing out loud when no one else is around. And in my head - I sound amazing and I am thankful for that. And I am thankful that the man I married has never once complained when he has had to listen to me sing out loud in the car...that is true love.

I am thankful that I saw Keith Urban live this year and I'm sorry that I never saw Brookes and Dunn in concert. I have seen Kenny Chesney and Tim and Faith twice and they were amazing. Reba is awe inspiring but I am afraid she may be a vampire. She does not age. She just looks better and better. Miranda Lambert and Gloriana are in my car right now. Daughtry and Vince Gill rock! And speaking of rocks - Kid Rock was a nice addition tonight too. Love how he keeps popping up everywhere. How could you not love music with words like - God is Great, Beer is Good and People are Crazy!!

I love country music, living in TEXAS, singing out loud with my radio and Old Gringo Boots!!  And I love November and all the things I am thankful for...
